Scoil Bhride Primary School

Scoil Bhride Primary School was established in 2007 and from February 2015 will be located in a state of the art new school building in Killane, Edenderry. The school’s educational philosophy promotes equality. We believe young children benefit most from an inclusive educational experience, therefore, boys and girls are educated side by side in all our classrooms from Junior Infants to Sixth Class. We have 6 special classes to support children with Autistic Spectrum Disorders who require special class placement. Our school has a Catholic ethos and welcomes pupils of all religions and none.

St Mary’s Primary School

In 1904 the Sisters of St. John of God were invited by Fr. Kinsella P.P. to take charge of the education of girls and infant boys in the parish of Edenderry. This decisxion was sanctioned by the bishop and the Board of Education. Five sisters, headed by Mother Aloysius, arrived from Wexford to teach in the building now known as St. Joseph’s Hall. In time, St. Joseph’s Hall was found to be inadequate to cope with the increasing pupil numbers. The people of Edenderry owe a debt of gratitude to the Sisters for their generosity and dedication to this school. Today, it is a landmark in the history of Edenderry.
